Eye candy layouts

I really like the papers in Crystal's newest kit at Jessica Sprague. The colours are beautiful and the patterns are just up my alley; stripes, polka dots, and scrolls.

Here are two layouts that I have made in the last week with them.

Catching up on Project 52

I think it's been four weeks since I last posted about my Project 52. So I have a few photos to upload.

#36, 2009
I missed taking a photo this week. Um, hello! How did that happen? So this photo was actually taken today, but it will have to be a stand in. Sscchh, don't tell anyone, ok? :)

I took this of my sister Nina when she, her fiancé Andrea, and my mum came over for dinner. I think she looks like she is contemplating some heavy stuff in this photo. In reality she was checking her cell phone, I think. But I like the expression on her face.

My sister Frida and her fiancé Jocke moved into their house last week and this was dinner in the evening. yah, we are carnivores. It's a meat mountain! LOL!

#39, 2009
There are a few small ponds right behind the area where we live and I went down there today to see if I could catch some of the birds. They were hiding but I got down right at the edge of the pond and got this shot of the vegetation.

I just realized now that I only have 13 more photos to take for this project. Wow!

New home

My sister and her fiance moved to their new house yesterday and I made a card to go with the present we got them. It took me three hours + to make in PS. After that I had run out of steam and simply mounted it on sparkly cardstock in blue and silver. I am so proud of myself that I had the patience to actually finish it, lol.

I totally lifted the design from the box for this notch and die set from Basic Grey that I have.
Photobucket

The design isn't identical because I didn't have all the filigrees and flourishes in my font sets that they have used. But I still like the outcome.

The fonts I used are: Dekor01, Ornament Scrolls and Flourishes, Circus, Arial

Food photo book

If I could figure out why I can't embed the book here I would fix the problem. But at the moment you will have to make do with the link:

Jewel tones table scape

I am totally ready for autumn for once. I can't wait to pull the sweaters out, and start using my boots again. When it comes to home decor and entertaining I am also ready for some darker jewel colours and so this past weekend, when we had my family over for dinner, I said why wait? I had picked up these delicious sparkly place mats a few weeks earlier and was eager to use them. I decided to keep the whole look simple but I do have a few ideas for how to dress this style up much further. Maybe I will do some of them next time.

I used a brown table cloth and the new turqouise, sparkly placemats together with white napkins.

The white napkins and china really helps to brighten everything up. As you know, I prefer to use simple white china to let the food speak for itself on the plate. I'm not a pattern type of girl. I also don't have a "fancy" china. We decided to go with several different sizes of plates and bowls, all in white from IKEAs 365+ line and then mix them according to the food we are serving. It works well for us and I never have to worry that the china doesn't match what I am doing on the rest of the table. Also, since they are cheap I don't have to cry me a river if/when something breaks.

I tied a suede ribbon around each napkin and placed it on the plate. I think it's a great way of getting out of having to learn complicated folding techniques at the same time as it makes things less formal and stiff.
Photobucket

Instead of making seating cards I used sticky letters that I got from some scrapbook shop to mark the guests' place. The letters were easy to remove and after a run in the dishwasher what residue glue that had stuck to the plate was gone.

In the middle of the table I put smaller pillar candles in different heights and scattered a few glass beads and sequins in brown and turquoise.

Talk about uninspired

I have hit a real funk when it comes to being creative. I picked up my camera for the first time in over two weeks last night. Yeah, hadn't even touched it since I was on holiday. This means I am, for the first time, behind on my Project 52. I feel like an ass to have lasted so long and then miss out on account of being lazy.

I haven't done much other creative work either. I tried working on my long time coming Milano book but couldn't get anything to look right, I started working on a new book about my food photography but ran out of steam when I had to get out of the sofa and plug the computer to the EHD, and then I have started two other projects that have died pretty quickly. Uhm, like I said, a real funk.

I have, however, finished the last of the wedding stationary. Now I just need to photograph everything so I can upload it. But then we're back to picking up that camera, lol.

We had my family over for dinner last night to celebrate a birthday and I had planned to make Pavlova for dessert. Only I spent too long cleaning so the husband had to make it while he was cooking. I did end up decorating it right before eating if that counts?

I have photos of the table scape from last night, which I have to say I really liked even if it was quite simple. I just need to upload them. They will be posted once I do.

Gosh, I sound like a real bore! Hahaha! I will try to do better!
