laying it out | having fun

I have been wanting to scrap a few photos from my sister's wedding for a while. It's from the reception where we had a photo booth with props, and I wanted to use photos of both my sisters with their men, and us. I love how fun and carefree they are and I think that reflects in the layout as well.

I really like the overlays from Lori Whitlock's Bithday Masking Set (coming Monday Sept. 3rd at JessicaSprague.com) that I used for the center and right banners. Overlays are a quick and easy way to get pattern but still be able to customize colours and textures to fit your own tastes and needs.

card making | wedding gift

I know it's been really quiet around these parts for a while. I have been working really hard to finish all the stuff for the wedding this weekend. It's over (took place yesterday) and it went really well, but I am wiped and need rest. But in the meantime I thought I could share the card and gift that we gave the beautiful couple.

I made a large card with a bit of a retro design based on an ad I saw on Pinterest a while ago. It's actually one full 12x12 paper folded in half. Pretty cool with big cards, I think.

I used digi papers from Hometown Proud by Design by Dani and Country Lane by Pink Paislee for this card.

We decided to give the couple some good wine to enjoy at specific dates; a Brunello for the one monthiversary, a Portuguese wine for the six monthiversary and a champagne for the first anniversary. I arranged the bottles in a wooden box that the husband was able to charm his way into at the wine shop with two red wine glasses (they will have to use their own champagne glasses in a year). The box originally contained wine from the Priorat district in Spain, but I don't think that really matters as it is pretty.

I also created tags that matched the card for each bottle that stated the date when the wine is to be enjoyed.

The husband and I both commented that we were jealous of the gift, LOL. And I can't even drink red wine!

Hopefully I will be able to share some pictures from the wedding in the coming week.

laying it out | can hardly wait

I so need some time off, you guys!

Just one more week now and then I have four weeks to do whatever the heck I want.
So far I've thought of a couple of things:
  • Stay up late
  • Make yummy summer drinks
  • Barbecue and eat great food
  • Take lots of photographs
  • Visit a zoo
  • Wear pretty clothes
  • Go for lots of runs
  • Build extra storage behind our car port
  • Clean out my wardrobe and reorganize it
  • Read
  • Go to a wedding (and photograph it)
and to top it all off ...
  • Visit Rome - heck yeah!
Now, with this whole list, it doesn't really seem all that lazy. But I won't have to get up at 6 am. I don't have to commute with smelly, odd people on buses, I won't have to go to multiple meetings everyday, and I won't have to come home exhausted every night. With that in mind, I do think I can safely call it lazy.

Just one more week now. I'm holding it together!

p52 | boatload

I don't know what happened exactly but somewhere along the way I kind of stopped posting about my P52 endeavour. I have been shooting, without really thinking about it being for the project to be honest, but uploading and posting has been far from my mind.

But it's time for an update. Be ready though because I have eight weeks worth of photos to share! The last post I made was in mid June and with photos up until week 24. So here we go with week 25 to 32.

The photo for week 25 was taken on Midsummer's Eve. It's my little nephew with the luminous eyes and huge smile. How can one resist him?

Week 26 was my sister's wedding. I love, love, love this shot!

Each summer our garden is invaded by bumble bees and butterflies when our lavender explodes. I love sitting out there watching the sea of purple flowers sway in the wind, smell the amazing scents of the flowers, and hear the insects hum when they are working away. I know the composition is off on this one, but I am so proud that I nailed the focus and the exposure. The only editing done to this photo is some sharpening.

I think I have talked several times about my love for fruit smoothies. I especially love making these in the summer when I can use fresh Swedish berries. This one was made with the sweetest strawberries ever.

Week 29 was a crazy busy week when I had tons of stuff to do on the computer, related to weddings and bachelorette parties, and so I had little time and inspiration to take any nice photos. I crammed in a detailed shot of my workspace at work. Meh!

I have been getting lots of beautiful flowers lately. These ones were for my birthday. I love roses!

Last week was the bachelorette party for my future sister in law. She was a good sport and let us dress her as "The Superbride" with a plastic tiara and the veil as a cape. I think she looks so etheral in this shot, despite the getup.

I have been meaning for weeks to get some shots of the fields right next to our neighbourhood. I was finally able to yesterday when I got off the bus on my way home from work. How beautiful they are.

photo challenge | doggie

Have you heard of I Heart Faces and their photo challenges? I have been following their Facebook page for a while but never had the time or guts to enter.

But then there is that thing about challenging yourself to do better. I need to push myself to do that more, and I thought this was a good an opportunity as any. Because this week the challenge is about pet faces. And I have a beautiful little dog called Buster in my life. So why not give it a try, right?

Here he is!

laying it out | love and shoes

Who doesn't love shoes? I have to admit that I have a fascination for the things. I seem to have way to many of them judging by the many boxes in my wardrobe even though I personally feel like I can never find good ones when I go looking. How strange that is.

I was browsing my iPhone the other week and noticed that I have a few shots of some of my shoes and decided that it would be a cool thing to document.

I am still smitten with the photos from my sister's wedding and while we wait for the album to arrive (very anxiously waiting) I entertain myself with looking at the digital files. I am in love with the one where their hands form a heart and wanted to do something with it. The papers by Jodie Lee were so soft and pretty and went very well with the feel of the photo.

In other news I am spending my time working on wedding related stuff for my BIL's wedding in two weeks, hence my absence here. I will, of course, share here once the wedding is over. In the meantime I hope for your understanding.

Be well.

photo book | wedding

I am so excited to share the book I put together for my sister and her husband with photos from their wedding.

I chose to do a very sleek design and I am so happy I did. The photos are the sole focus each page. Of course, I did have to add something, I couldn't leave all the pages bare, and went for some nice diagonal stripes here and there.

The book is ordered and scheduled to arrive in about a week or so. I just cannot wait!
