40 before forty | slowly making progress

So do you remember our resolution to do forty things gefore we turn forty? It's been so long since I posted anything about it that one might think we had completely given up on the idea. Well, not really, but I have to be honest and say that we haven't really gone out of our way to get things crossed off on that list either.

There are four things that have been completed since my last post, and another five are in progress. Not too shoddy considering how busy we've been so far this year.

Out of the four that have been completed, I have scrapped about two that I would like to share with you today.

The husband loves Slash (formerly of Guns n' Roses). I think it was a secret wish to become like him that made the husband want to take up the guitar. For the longest time he has been wanting to see Slash live but have missed out on the few gigs that he has played in Sweden. But in February he got the chance when Slash came to Denmark. He brought my cousin, who shares his love of rock music, and was able to mark one of his items on the list as complete.

In keeping with the rock theme, we recently redid our office into a man cave for the husband. His growing guitar collection was driving me crazy in the small room they were placed in. That and the fact that the husband doesn't really share my obsession with being tidy. So we decided to get rid of the office furniture, that was never used for anything else but storing a bunch of papers, and make a nice and comfortable room for the husband to hang out in and play his music. We finished about a month ago, and I really like the outcome. I will do a proper post about it at some point.

As you can see, I am staying with the same papers and elements as I used on my other layouts. I am also trying to keep to the same kind of style with all the layouts. Hopefully it will give a cohesive album once we finish.

laying it out | trying to catch a break

Yes, I am literally trying to catch a break at this point in my life. Things are extremely hectic at work, and I find myself running faster and faster to keep up. I am afraid that I'm not doing a very good job of it.

I have quite a few things that I want to share here, but that means actually sitting down by the computer Before 10 pm, actually hooking up the camera to said computer, and actually editing the photos in said camera. But once I do all that, you can look forward to a couple of shots of the husband's mancave, a few photos of a Swedish holiday, and some weekly P52 shots.

For now though, I have a bunch of layouts to share. I am going to love you and leave you with these ones today. I think the pictures and the words will give you the story.

laying it out | boatload of layouts

Yeah, it's been a while since I posted any layouts, so I have a few to share today. Get ready! :)

When I was a wee lass, I was a ballerina. I loved to dance, but I didn't really fit in with the ballet crowd. Here's the story about that.

It's almost been a year since my sister got married. It feels like it has just been a little while. Time sure does fly.

I created this layout for the June challenge at Pixels & Co. If you haven't already, check it out! There are three challenges to choose from, and each challenge has three levels to fit everyone from beginner to advanced. This layout is for the Photo Executive Challenge (the highest level of the photo challenge). It asks to use two photos of a celebration, one of which must be a close up, and to use different edits on the two photos, and a filter on one.

I have a beautiful clematis in the garden and right now it is overflowing with flowers. It is so gorgeous. I have been taking a photo of it each day to trach the abundance.

On June 1 I decided to do a "day in the life" sort of thing and shoot a photo of everything I did during the day. I ended up with a truckload of photos, but Went with only a few that I felt represented the day pretty well. It's my life and I love it.

OK, so I admit that even though I quite like Autumn for it's pretty colours, right now I am not missing it one little bit. But the background paper, which is from Liv.e Designs new Wooded Paper Pack, made me think of the photos I took on a walk in the woods last year and I knew they would work so well together that I had to scrap them. So even though I hope it's a long time until I get to take new photos like these, at least I know there is something to look forward to after summer has gone.

This cake is sent from heaven. Truly. It's chocolate and hazel nut, with Nutella frosting, and topped with vanilla cream and strawberries. It's moist, it's rich, and so delicious. A dangerous combination.

p52 | summer beauty

I'm back in the world of the living again after a week of being sick and then a week of trying desperately to catch up at work and at home. It feels great to be back!

I want to kick off with a couple of P52 photos from the past four weeks.
Summer is here and it shows with the abundance of pretty flowers that are everywhere.

A walk along the beach one sunny morning. It was quiet and empty. The wind was blowing in my hair and I just felt so refreshed.

What is happier and brighter than the combination of blue skies and yellow rape fields. It takes my by surprise every year how beautiful it is.
 photo P52_2013_21_logo.jpg

Right after the rape fields have show their glory, it's time for the lilacs to get in the battle. Oh, the smell, oh the vibrance! I love late May/early June when they bloom. Oh, and can you believe this was shot with my iPhone?
 photo P52_2013_22_logo.jpg

I bought some flowers for a work function at the beginning of this week, and they are so gorgeous. Soft, delicate petals of pink beauty. How can you not love it?
 photo P52_2013_23_logo.jpg

I'm thinking that the next coming weeks will need to feature something other than plants, yeah? LOL!
