laying it out | my boys

What better things to scrap about than the boys in my life? Here are two layouts about two of them.

I am behind in both my scrapbooking and my Project Life at the moment but I am cutting myself some slack on that front as I just started working again after five months on sick leave. I only go in for two hours a day but it's still kicking my behind and I need to five myself plenty of time to rest. Because of this I might be a little quiet around here in the near future.

project life | week of february 10

This week I, for the first time, didn't follow the idea of staying with one particular colour for the month. I feel both liberated and bothered by it! The reason is that now I don't know if I should make February an "any kind of colour" month or if I should treat this week as a speciality week and go back to my colour. The decisions I put myself in front of, LOL!

The week was both very hard and absolutely amazing. There are several things that I am so thankful for; beautiful gifts, great laughs, precious time with people I love and I chose to make those the focus of my pages this week rather than the difficult bits. There has been enough difficult in the last months to go around anyway!

laying it out | of love fests and the drag of everyday

You know I'm a sucker for the husband. You know, as I said just the other day, that I love to create pages about him. And on a day like Valentine's Day I choose to continue with the sappy love. This is us. With a lot of glasses.

But then there is the drag of the everyday. The days when I'm left alone to entertain myself. As you can see in the pictures, I'm not all that good at entertaining myself - I've got a frown on all of them! But I figure it's a good idea to hash it all out and hope to do some healing through the scrapbooking.

project life | week of feb 3

It's a new month, and I get to start over again with a new colour! Yay!
Well, I had this idea that I would do multi colour this month - be all crazy and carefree like that. It did not work. I guess I'm not a carefree kind of person. As if there ever was any question about that. Ha! So I ended up doing favourite repeat, and I kind of love it.

I had a bunch of photos to choose from last week, so many that it was a bit difficult to choose. But that is a good thing. Some weeks I struggle to get even five shots. But that is the beauty of this - I can mix it up and adapt my pages after what happens each week. This week there were 12, next week there might be only 8, and I can still make it work. I love it!

laying it out | things that make me happy

I guess my favourite topic to scrap is things that make me happy. That can of course be a huge variety of things, but why limit myself? The husband is a recurring person in my layouts. Here is another one.

One thing that I always feel I need during the winter months is fresh flowers in a vase. They help to keep my faith that there will ever be something called spring coming around. The punch of colour is a much welcome aspect in my life.

project life | week of january 27

Oh boy! Last week was hard! I don't know how I go through it, but I did and thankfully I am still here. So far this week has been better (even if I had a dentist appointment today and those are never catagorized as the best of times are they) and I'm hoping that will continue. I'm hoping to be able to get some hybrid projects done in the coming days. But until then, here are the layouts for last week's Project Life!

I decided to start using the timer on my dSLR again the other week and I am so glad I did. The photos with me/us actually in the picture feel so much more alive and real. So yes, it is a bit staged because I do have to set the camera up but it captures things I'm actually doing.

And yes, that is a photo of my shower drain. Yes, I did have a flooded bathroom. Yes, I did document it.

laying it out | challenge layouts

I've been spending some time this weekend trying to keep up with all the 1st birthday bash challenges at Pixels and Co. There are so many great challenges to take part in, and it is a lovely chance to get some scrapping done.

Designer Mye De Leon is hosting a Inspired by Paper Challenge and has provided a beautiful template to work with. This is my take on the challenge.

Fellow creative team member Rachel Alles is hosting a template challenge and the template she is providing is amazing. This is my take on the challenge.

There are new challenges coming up every day this week until February 9th, so come on over and join us in the fun. I'm hoping to cram a few more in this week!

I also want to share this layout that I created when designer Gennifer Bursett released her Julep Kit and expressed hope that someone in the creative team used the "I'd rather be your shot of whiskey than everyone else's cup of tea" card. I knew right away that I wanted to use the wedding photo of my friend Karri to her husband in 2012. They had a beautiful wedding at a bourbon distillery that I would have loved to attend. Unfortunately I was not able to. Knowing Karri, though, I felt the saying fit perfectly.
