Art collaboration take two

So I have a problem. I agree to do projects despite not being sure I will ever be able to pull them off (um, like selling digi products?). Sometimes this makes for a fabulous challenge and I rise to the occasion. Sometimes I bite off too much and I end up agonizing for weeks and weeks. Here is the story of such a time.

After agreeing to make another painiting for my coworker I went home and cried for two weeks. Then I came up with a vision of how I wanted the painiting to look. Then followed two weeks of mulling over it. When he started asking about the progress I knew I had to get the work started. That's when I had a nervous breakdown in our living room which led my über talented painter husband to step in and save the day. Oh how I love him so.

I drew the idea on a piece of paper, explained the effect I wanted and what colours I had in mind.  Then we set to work. Him mostly. It only took about an hour to finish it and it turned out amazing. We both contemplated getting a new canvas and make another painting for my coworker as we both wanted to keep this one. However, we have no space for it in our house so we decided to let it go.

The husband's last words? "Don't take on projects that you know you won't be able to pull off again. Um ... we will just have to see about that, lol.

Framed art for the office

A little while ago I decided to spruce up one of the office walls a little with some home made art. The colours in that room are grey, silver, and red and I have somewhat of a theme going with circles (and dots) and letters (with an emphazis on R). So I made two pieces in red and framed them in silver frames. I haven't gotten round to hanging them yet - seriously need to get the drill out this week - but today I propped them up on a picture shelf to at least take some photos of them.

The first one I made all by my self by putting together red dots in different sizes into the letter R. I am so in love with how this came out. The funny thing is that the other day I saw a snippet of a rerun of an Oprah episode and there was a logo of her O that consisted of dots in different colours. I swear I made mine before I saw that though! ;)

The second piece I made is of the Swedish alphabet in different fonts, with a few numbers and a snowflake at the end, just for good measure. I am thinking about redoing this. I am not 100% in love with it. But yeah, it will do for now.

I have a bunch of things to catch up on; I know I promised the wordart last week, two P52 photos, and also some ideas for Valentine's that I wanted to share with you, as well as a mini tutorial for my way of doing a photo wall, but I am putting in a lot of overtime at work at the moment, so please have some patience with me. :D

Happiness freebie

There really hasn't been a lot of freebies around here lately, has there? Well, time to redeem myself here a little bit.

I was watching this programme on telly about fabulously designed houses in the UK and saw something really nice. On one of the living room windows of a particular house a saying was etched. It was in Latin but I really loved it and knew immediately that I had found the saying I have been looking for since the dawn of time, well not really but for a while at least, for the office.

It said happiness lives here.

Isn't it fabulous?

So I had to sit down and give it a try and see if I could find a design that would work. And I did. And then I decided to share it here as a word art freebie. So here it is.

You can click here to get to 4shared and download it if you like it.
The download includes both a png and an abr brush. Please do read and follow the TOU, give me a shout when you download, and I would love to see what you do with it too, so don't hesitate to link me up.

I, at least, am overly excited at the prospect of having it on my wall. There is the small detail of informing the husband of my plans, of course. But really, what choice does he have but to love it?
While I was at it I also created som other art for the office. I promise I will come back with pictures when I have them.

Now I'm off to see what photo I want to use for my Project 52 shot this week. Until later!

New painting by JRKonst

My husband is an excellent artist and paints striking pieces of art. The latest one he did quickly became one of our favourites and we hung it in our bedroom on the wall facing our bed. It is the last thing I see before I go to sleep and the first thing I see when I wake up. I love the energy it has and it looks so great on the white wall.

He hasn't updated his blog in ages and he has several new pieces. I need to get on his back about that.

Art by Johan Roos

This is a brag post. I have reason to brag because I have a very talented artist in my husband. I thought I would share some of his latest work here.

And this last one, a slab of granite that he worked on for over a month. It is stunning.

He has also done a couple on comission for friends and family as well as a really large piece that we have in our living room. I will have to come back with that one as it is my all time favourite out of his work.
