p52 | here doggie

I love this little boy. He is the cutest of the super cute. He wasn't all too interested in having his picture taken, he kept following me when I backed up to set the shot up right, but somehow it didn't really matter because he is so sweet.

p52 | fluffy

The day that I went for a walk in the part by my workplace I wasn't really on top of the world. It had been a rough day with big stuff happening. There was a work function that evening and I didn't have time to go home before it. So I took a walk in the park, with the hope of getting some breathing time and a chance to decompress.

These little cute fluffy babies were among the first things I saw. After another 20 minutes with trees, flowers, and quiet time I felt like a whole new person. Looking at this photo now, it brings a smile to my face.

Last week my goddaughter had her 7th birthday and we were there to celebrate. The cotton candy was a huge hit with all the kids!

p52 | summer is approaching

These last two weeks we've had a range from pretty decent to practically awesome weather and it really does give hope that summer will be here soon. I love that! So what better way to celebrate that than to showcase it in the weekly photos?

Quite a lovely view isn't it? Only a few minutes from our house!

week in the life | the pages

I am dragging on a bit with WITL, but please bear with me as I share the pages I have put together depicting last week. As I have said in my previous posts, scrapping the whole week was not an option. I just don't have the time or energy right now. So I decided to go in the other direction and just put the photos and words together.

I still need to do a cover and a title page before I can have it printed, and I am still debating what size to get, but I am happy with the finished pages for now.

If you would like to check WITL out, then I reccomend you visit Ali Edwards for info, inspiration, and wise words. If you want to see what inspired me, then visit Lynette Penacho's excellent blogpost.

Just a last few words: WITL is about documenting life as it is. It doesn't have to fit a certain format or be carried out at a certain time of the year. I truly feel that anyone who wants to can do this as long as they make it work in their life, and adjust the format and expectations to their own situation.

Oh, and don't forget to actually live that life as well!

week in the life | the end

Here we are, it's a new week, and I can proudly say I finished another project. Granted, this one wasn't year long and really didn't demand any extraordinary action on my part (like learning how to cook or finding a new outlook on life like my New52 venture of 2011) other than taking photos all day every day and writing down some notes for remembering, but it was still a commitment that I made to not just give up and go on living my life.

The results won't go down to history as earth shattering or even mildly interesting. But it will be a nice thing to look back on; what did life as we know it look like in the spring of 2012?

Good things this week; there have been quite a few. My favourite day was Saturday, hands down. From sleeping in, to spending time with the people we love the most in the world (both in person and on the phone), to the weather picking up in the afternoon so much that we could put some homemade burgers on the grill, to having an inpromptu dance session in my BIL and SIL's kitchen. Other good things; good food, getting a lot accomplished at work, making myself go swimming on Monday.

Bad things this week; yeah I have to say that the worst thing is my usual one - busride to work. I detest it. Also, having to get up early, having put on half a pound since I weighed myself last, spending two hours pulling weeds in the garden on Sunday. But mostly, I am pretty happy with how the week turned out in the end.

What I do like is that I have taken more photos this week than I have before during a regular old week. I do think that maybe I have concentrated so hard on documenting everyday life that I have lost sight of taking photos from an artistic standpoint. That is something I usually try to do, especially with my photo class where they expect to see art every time. I won't be able to come to class with a shot where I placed the camera on the island, set the timer, and then turned my back to peel eggs ... LOL!

Sunday

I woke up early but was too tired to get up so I lounged in bed for an hour or so, catching up on Facebook and Twitter. After uploading photos and blogging we hit the garden to get some much needed gardening done. We pulled weeds, cut the grass, planted some stuff, brought the patio furniture out, and did some general cleaning. We also made a quick run to the nursery to pick up a plant for the large pot by the front door as the old ones had molded (what is that all about, anyway).  We weren't finished until late afternoon and then spent the rest of the day reading and watching telly on the couch, trying to get that last bit of rest before the weekend is over and it's time to do everything all over again.

Alrighty, the last shots of the week:

Ok, so what is left to do now is obviously to get all the photos edited. All 173 of them. And then I want to make a book out of it. I said at the beginning of the week that I would do a photos and words book - no scrapping - and I still think this is the route I will go. I certainly don't have the energy to spend three weeks working on this. So, I am giving myself the night off to just bask in the positive energy of having finished, and then pick back up next week and get it done. I will most definitely post the finished thing once it's done. Until then, have a great week! :)

week in the life | on the homestretch

I am feeling like the week has flown by. I thought it would be difficult and complicated to document the week in detail. It really hasn't. Thanks to iPhone it is surprisingly easy. I have also gotten into the habit of using the timer on the dSLR which has been great for getting the everyday stuff like cooking and folding laundry into the shots.

Friday was a crazy, crazy day at work with no less than six meetings. This meant I had very little time for documenting. But that has to be ok too. That is my reality. I just don't get to share it here.

Satuday was very different. It was a lovely day with tons of time to relax and love on our families. I always say weekends are too short. And they are, but a little piece of me also think that maybe they hadn't been as awesome had they been around all the time ... or at least that is what I'm telling myself! Ha!

Alright, shots!
(and no, I haven't had time to edit these either)

week in the life | keeping up

I have been surprised at how smoothly keeping up with WITL has gone so far. Working full time means that there aren't too many great opportunities for photography during the day. I mean, how many times can I use the timer to shoot myself in front of the computer? But I think I've done well with regards to my lifestyle - in the sense that it has portrayed my life as it is.

Taking some time before bed to upload the photos and write a little something about the day is also a nice feature. It gives me time to reflect about the day and I quite like that. I should try to keep up with that even after this week.

So, here are a few shots from Wednesday and today.
(Please note that these aren't edited yet)

Wednesday

Busride to work in the rain

Keeping an eye on live updates of a football game that was moved from a Saturday a few weeks back. It went well.

Cooking dinner

Eating dinner

Laundry from Saturday still not put away

Thursday
Documenting the outfit of the day - I suck at taking photos of myself

Walking from the bus stop to work

Conference call at work

Visiting with friends

Getting clothes ready for tomorrow

Aren't you wowed by the amazing adventure that is my day to day life? Ha! It's so repetative and mundane that it's not even funny.

So, three days left. I think I can really do this! I am both surprised and proud. Of course, then there's the whole putting it together thing that I haven't even touched yet ...
