Project 52, week 8

#8, 2009

So yeah, I've got a thing for yummy looking deliciousness. But anyone paying attention will know that it's the smoothie featured in one of the layouts in my last post. And if you are said person paying attention you will also know that it's made of fruit and dairy and nothing else, hence not being too evil, lol.

Layout dump

Gosh, I have lots of layouts to post. I have been pretty productive lately if I may say so myself. I know, I'm not used to it either, so if you need to sit down for a while I completely understand. :)

I need to post my photo for Project 52, week 8 as well. So I will come back with that. Man, I've been slacking, haven't I? Well not really, I have done a lot of other things as well. I am hoping I will be able to post at least one of them before the week is over.

See ya soon!

Project 52, week 7

This week was pretty uninspired. We had snow at the beginning of the week and then the weather has been pretty blah. I've worked a lot as usual. So this gets to be a down week as far as Project 52 goes.

I'm usually not big on effects when it comes to photography. I like for my photos to be photographs and not Photoshop products. Don't get me wrong, I love PS and I love how powerful it is as an editing tool, but I don't want the post proccess techniques to overpower the photo. Know what I mean?

But because I felt so uninspired with my photos this week I played around a little. And these two are the products. I don't love them, not even sure I like them. But there it is. Can't decide which one will get to be the photo for this week ... what do you think?

On our driveway we have a few pots with some dead heather. I practically just opened the door and took some shots. This first one is in sepia with the colour of the heather brought back.

I tried out Pioneer Woman's action called Seventies with this one.

Pop art

My sister turns 25 at the end of the month and we are hosting her party at our place. We have talked about it for ages but didn't get to work until exactly four weeks before the event. So finishing the invites got a bit rushed. But we are both happy with the outcome because it conveys the theme perfectly. Being a child of the 80s she wanted to stay close to that era with the party. So we're going with black and hot pink and a bubble gum feel.

Now we're brainstorming on party decor. I'm pretty excited about this whole thing.

Tête a tête

For our dinner tonight I thought I'd play it up a little and set a romantic table for the two of us. Because I decided on this about an hour before I didn't quite get the chance to get anything new, like flowers or such. But did you think that would stop me? Nah, I'm the queen of hoarding so you know I had at least a few usable things at home.

With a white linen table cloth and a black and silver runner I had the basis. We have red as an accent colour in another room so I snatched the candles from there.

I butchered a few fake roses and put them in silvery dessert cups that matched the candle holders.

The paper strips around the stems of the glasses say "heart you" and are fastened with double sided tape. Had I had more time I would have done something more elaborate on the computer though.

I had red organza ribbon with hearts so I put them around the chairs and punched some hearts out of red paper that I scattered on the table.

The food was fabulous; crostini with spinach and pata negra for starter, Jamie Oliver's pasta with prawns and ruccola in tomato sauce for main, and chocolate/banana milkshake for dessert, but I cannot take credit for that as I suck at cooking. Seriously. Thank God I married someone who is good at it. :D

Have a wonderful evening everyone! I will be back tomorrow with the photos of my sister's party invite.

Random talk about wallpaper and clothes, oh and a freebie

First of all I want to give thanks for the very sweet comments on my word art freebie. Y'all know how to put a smile on my face!

I just realized that I never posted the photos of the party invite like I said I would the other day. Scatter brain, that's me nowadays, lol. My excuse? I've been preoccupied with trying to come up with a new way to place our furniture in our bedroom and office. That, and looking for wallpaper online, lol. I had this dream of totally rearranging our office, building an island for me to work at, and putting up a beautiful lace wallpaper. This ended up not working due to three monster wardrobes that we need to keep due to me having bought way too much clothes in the last years. Oooops! Hee! But I have the photos in my camera, so I will put them up soon.

But first, here is the template I made from yesterday's layout.

Freebies are love!

You guessed it folks! I love freebies. And what better way to celebrate that than to share some with y'all. As icing on the cake the topic is love, just in time for Valentine's.

I created a set of five word art in as many different styles so hopefully there is something that will catch your eye. They come neatly packaged in a PNG file for easy use.

Project 52, week 6

My brother in law came over today to help move some furniture around (yeah, painting is still going on in this house, sigh) and brough his son along. This was a perfect opportunity for me to take some pics of the little cutie pie. He was showing me his little Lightning McQueen car that he is so proud of. This boy is going to be a heart breaker one day.

And here are the rest of the series

Oh what a week! So many overtime hours that my head is actually spinning. But yeah, I did, don't be too shocked now, SCRAP! I know! Can you believe it. Let's not get too excited here. It's only one layout. But I've heard one is better than nothing. Not sure that was in regards to scrap booking but I'll take it.

I also made the invites to my sister's 25th birthday party. The theme is 80s bubble gum. I think the look of the invites work pretty well. I will take photos of them tomorrow.

I have been asked to do the invites, programmes, and thank you cards for a wedding in August so I hope to get cracking on that this weekend. They are going out in April so I have some time, but not too much. I can't wait!
