choosing delight

My new mantra is to always choose delight (as opposed to stress or anxiety) in every situation. The photo in this layout just seems to speak  "relaxation" really loudly to me.

Attack of the monster tomatoes

After two years of success with tomatoes in the vegetable garden we were keen to give it another try this year. I don't know if we should be happy or scared because the tomatoes are turning into monster tomatoes. Seriously, they are huge! And there are a onslaught of tomatoes getting ready to ripen any day now. That's great for the husband because he has been wanting to make his own ketchup for ages. Also, this girl absolutely loves caprese salad so I think that is on the menu as well.

I tried to get a good pic showing the monsters but the are just plain too big. So a pic of a few flowers had to make do.

Wine not?

OK, so 29 weeks down, that's like, more than half the year gone in what seems like a blink of an eye. And I have managed to do something, however big or small, every week save one. I have to admit that I'm impressed. Some weeks it's really hard, granted, to find something new to do. Those are the weeks where all I do is work and eat and sleep. But by now I am determined to see it through. It has become an important goal for me.

So remember I made a list of things I wanted to do at the beginning of the year? Yeah, that list is actually coming along really nicely. There are a few things on it that I know I won't be able to achieve, but I have crossed off quite a few ones already. Coolness I say.

One of the points on the list was to try 12 new wines. Initially I thought I'd do one new wine each month but apparently that went quicker than I thought. I know I'm at more than 12 as of right now, but that is because I got to participate in a wine tasting a while back. It's been fun trying new stuff out, and I have found a couple new favourites in the process; a rosé from Bordeaux (merlot and cabernet franc), a Moscatel from Spain, and a lovely Vermentino from the border of Toscana and Liguria.

The variety that can come out of a simple litte thing like a grape is amazing to me and it's a lot of fun to try out and discover new gems.

Where I go all mushy

Did you know that there is a weekly challenge at My lovely friends Liv Esteban and Kari Holt and I try our best to bring you fresh and fun digi- and hybrid challenges every week. This week is my turn to host, and we're taking cue from Oprah!

I decided to join in the fun this week. That is something I rarely do. Not because I don't want to - I do! I just really never seem to find the time to sit down and scrap anymore. Sad but true.

But yeah, I created this little layout. All lovey and dovey about my husband. Straight to the point. Short and sweet. But very true.

Socks and hair don't go together like hands and gloves

Ok, so after seeing this thing on Pinterest a while ago, I was all over trying the "sock method" out.

Sock method you say? What the freak is that? No, it's not a cheap version of augumentation, LOL. It's, believe it or not, a way to curl hair without using heat.

So the photo on pinterest linked to this tutorial on Youtube.

The image on Pinterest showed a beautiful set of messy curls.

My hair, after following the instructions in the Youtube video? Um ... not so much. More like a magpie's nest. Messy, sure. But nowhere near sexy and softly curly. So that was a bust.

Maybe I just generally suck too badly at hairdo-ing to get even the simplest of methods right? And no, I can't operate a curling iron for my life.

Is there anyone out there who has actually tried this with success and can offer some advice?

Summer eatings

The weather this week has been changing, giving us both showers and sun. Apparently the rain will come to stay for a few weeks now, so last night we jumped at the chance of grilling and sitting outside as it was a really nice evening. We got some minced lamb and grilled it with nectarines which were then mixed with Chevre and arugula. The flavours married perfectly and it was just lovely to sit on the tiny little porch and enjoy the warmth with the food and a nice glass of wine.

Reminiscing and wishing

Now is about the time that I really wished I was somewhere else ... like in Italy. Looking at the pages depicting our trip last year makes me want to pack up my bags and leave right away.

Of fish and glam

A while back we had planned to try a fairly new sushi restaurant, Saiko, but it all fell through due to a growling stomach and too long waiting time, but we both kept it in memory and agreed to try again soon. The soon didn't come until this week, when I called there on a whim to see if there was room for a reservation. They could indeed squeeze us in. Yay!

It was a great little restaurant; the sushi was among the best both of us have had, even if it was pricy, and the decor and atmosphere of the place was fun, relaxed, and hip. I didn't get to take any photos of the food but I did whip the camera out when I went to the bathroom and found the most quirky bathroom I have seen. The whole room was covered floor to ceiling with a forest wall paper, there candle lights placed on the floor and on shelves, and there were speakers with forest sounds. Fun touch!

It was a very good night and I'm glad we went, finally.

Another new thing for this week was the Lancome Juicy Tubes lipgloss I got in the Pamplemousse shade. It tastes like candy, which isn't a bad thing.

Meanwhile in the garden

Just a moment ago, I happened to come across about two billion bumble bees and ten thousand (or at least two) butterflies in my garden.

Did I tell you I love summer?

Swoon material

I just have to share, this little boy melts my heart with those chubby cheeks, and those big brown eyes. Do you think his mama (my sister) would mind much if I stole him for a while?

A faves list

I follow music star Robbie Williams on Facebook, and the other day he linked to a blogpost of his listing a few faves. I was inspired to do the same and decided a layout would be fitting. Now, I had to change a few of the questions out; I wear neither boxers nor briefs, which he had on his list, LOL!

Supplies: Modernist Elements Pack, Indulgence Elements Pack, Meet & Greet Elements Pack, Framed Elements Pack, Charmed Alpha, Glassy Alpha all by In the Making Design. Papers from a kit coming soon. TOU updated

I just remembered that I hadn't ever gotten around to updating the TOU page with the actual TOU. So now it's done. If in doubt, go HERE.

New in store - It's a Start 6

I wrote in my blog post the other day that I think there is too little focus on normal life in scrapbooking. I have been guilty of this too; I think my everyday life is less exciting, with going to work, coming home to eat and work on the computer, and all the everyday chores that there is when you're a houseowner, but the fact of the matter is that this makes up 80% of my life. Why shouldn't I document it?

It started with creating a layout about weeds (not the kind you smoke, mind you). Looking at it I got the idea of a whole set. So I created a templates set of four templates devoted to this concept. I have to say, I am really pleased with them! I like the clustered look and the repeating squares, and I am super happy with the clean look of the titles.
