laying it out | a layout trifecta

I have three layouts to share with you today! Heck yeah!
Don't you love how many layouts I seem to be able to produce nowadays?
(kidding of course)

Keeping up with some travel daydreaming, again with a shot from Rome.

(Supplies: Going Places collab kit by Ardent Sparrow and One Little Bird, Life 365 Stampsheet by Karla Dudley, all at Pixels & Co)

You can pick up the new and utterly fabulous Going Places collab kit by Ardent Sparrow and One Little Bird today at Pixels & Co.

I live in a town called Malmö at the very south tip of Sweden. I have lived here all my life. It's my home. It's a town with many struggles, but also a place with many great things going for it. This is a small token of my appreciation of my home town.

(Supplies: Frame Basics Full Pack, Joy of Childhood Paper Pack, Winter Breeze Full Kit, Roll Over Brushes, All About Love Labels, Warm Wuv Soft Hugs Elements Pack all by Liv.e Designs at Jessica Sprague, In Stitches by Robyn Meierotto at Pixels & Co, Crate Paper Portrait Kit at AC Digitals)

I don't eat a lot of cakes or cookies. I'm not really all that fond of it. Desserts? Yes! Cakes? Not so much. But still I wanted to create a layout about a pastry. Partly because it's somewhat of a national treasure and part of my culture and heritage but also partly because it's something my husband likes. So, the fastlagsbulle or semla, is the star of this layout.

(Supplies: Frame Basics Full Pack, Gentle Morn Full Kit, Winter Breeze Elements Pack, Roll Over Brushes, Windsong Elements Pack all by Liv.e Designs at Jessica Sprague, Paris & Co by Carina Gardner, Life 365 Buttons by Karla Dudley at Pixels & Co, Fairytale Kit by Paislee Press and One Little Bird at The Lilypad)

You really want to check out the Frame Basics Full Pack by Liv.e Designs, which is new today at They will without a doubt become a staple in your stash. The pack features beautifully textured frames, with and without a stroke, in black and white, and in various sizes.

my other true love

I have a confession to make. I have a longstanding love affair with Pinterest that doesn't seem to fade.

Pinterest helps me get through long and boring busrides, waiting for tele conferences to start, and many sleepless nights.

Pinterest keeps my creative juices flowing, my tastebuds rearing to go, and my wishlist (of everything from clothes to photography gear) growing.

I think it's clear, from the image above, that it is true love!

How do you use Pinterest? What do you like to pin, and how do you use your pins?
I am contemplating rearranging my boards but don't know that more boards would actually help me all that much more.
How meticulous are you with your pins? Do you prefer to keep fewer boards with a wider range of pins or the opposite? I would love to hear your thoughts!

class tip | it's elemental

I signed up to a new class the other day. I was intrigued by Tiffany Tillman's upcoming class It's Elemental at and decided to give it a try.

Here's what Tiffany says about it:

"Elements are the single component that sets our scrapbooking albums apart from photo albums and journals. We fill-up our pages with neat little pieces, which highlight our unique personality and creativity.
But we want to move past filling up space with neat little pieces. Our pieces should share in the story visually. We want to use our pieces with purpose!
It’s Elemental is like a roadmap for embellishing. You will learn how to embellish with purpose by building rich element clusters and producing scenic, embellishment-heavy layouts. Tiffany will review each completed project and offer personal and style-specific tips that will help you improve your pages.
This class unleashes the creative, scrapbooking diva within all. And once you finish, you’ll possess unmatched embellishing strategies for page success!"

Sounds great, right? The personal feedback from Tiffany, as well as three live events, means that Tiffany will take a much more personal stance than most other classes offer. I'm excited for it to start!

The class will run March 11-31, and registration is open now!

Is anyone else taking the class?

p52 | frost

On Wednesday morning, while walking to the bus to take me to work, I had to stop and take some pictures. Everything was covered in frosty spikes and it was quite pretty.

It was one of those weird weather moments where it's cold, but at the same time foggy and damp. I am always a little intrigued when that happens.¨

Look at those spikes on that bike! Isn't it amazing?

laying it out | random facts

If you ever wonder what kind of drink I'm hooked on, what cheesy music I listen to when I clean, or what perfume I wear, then you will get an answer to all those questions right in this layout! Here are some random facts about me!

(Supplies: American Crafts Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Crate Paper Storyteller, Crate Paper Sleigh Ride all from, Kraft Essentials by Karla Dudley, Grow With Love Letters February Templates by Sara Gleason, both  from

I love these types of laouts! I think they are fun but also tell a lot about a person at the same time. It might be only silly little things I chose to share here, but I think they still help to paint a picture of who I am and what I'm about. I think I will do them a little more often from now on. Who knows, perhaps I can fill a mini book in the end?

You really need to check out the Dear Lizzy Enchanted kit from American Crafts that is available today at AC Digitals. It's gorgeous!

laying it out | mixed bag

One thing that I really love about being a member of several creative teams (you can see me proudly stating that in the sidebar over to the right) is that I get to be challenged each week to continually widen my creativity. It definitely keeps me on my toes to create for designers whose products range from super clean and modern (like Karla Dudley at Pixels & Co), to shabby modern (like Crate Paper at AC Digitals), to grungy and earthy (like Liv.e Desings).

I won't say it all comes naturally to me. Not all layouts flow out of my brain in a matter of minutes. No, some of them really makes me work hard to find exactly what I am looking for. Some of them find me staring at the screen for hours, moving things around or playing with colours and blending modes.

In the end though, despite perfectionism rearing its' ugly head every now and then, I still come away so very happy that I get to do this. I am so proud and honoured that someone thought what I bring to the table is worth sharing, worth inspiring others with.

And after all these words, I want to share with you a layout that was just that challenging to create as I described but I feel came out beautifully in the end. I like how the whole layout is soft and mellow, and then the roses pop out like a burst of colour.

(Supplies: T+Mini Vol. 2 Adoration by Liv.e Designs)

I have had trouble sleeping for the longest time. It's a major deal for me, because I feel like a walking dead most of the time. I know I would do better if I could improve on my sleeping, or at least just be able to fall asleep faster. It's been on my mind for a while, and so I thought I'd create a layout about it.

(Supplies: Roll Over Rub On & Brush Set, Creasers Vol. 1, This & That Sticker Pack, T+Mini Vol. 1 Filmed, Texture Magic, Holidays in Hand freebie all by Liv.e Designs, Note To Self Kit by Echo Park, Mistletoe Magic by Design by Dani)

The P52 photo for last week, the one I posted the other day, was a total fluke. I happened to look out the window and saw the glistening frost. It was a beautiful sight, and the shot turned out alright. But then my dear friend Liv's beautiful new bokeh overlays helped it to be even better. Here's a side by side comparison with and without one of the overlays.

(Supplies: Bokeh Magic Action & Textures by Liv.e Designs)

See how the subtle bokeh in the upper corner of the photo adds that extra oomph? See how it makes the glistening white even more glistening and white? See how it works so well with the original little sun spots? Don't you just love it? I adore it!

You can pick up Liv.e Design's beautiful new products; the Bokeh Magic Action and Textures, the Roll Over Brushes, T+Mini Vol. 2 Adoration template and mini kit today at

laying it out | focusing on the bright spots

I had a sudden burst of positive feelings the other day and felt like everything was all rosy and bright. Even stuff I normally moan about. It resulted in two layouts.

I travel a bit for work and even though I don't mind it all too much (it's nice to see my colleagues and my boss, who are stationed at the other end of the country), there are certainly things that are draining or stressful. In this layout I focused on bright spots from my latest trip the other week.

(Supplies: Life 365 Collection Part 1, Life 365 Collection Part 2, Anyday Extras all by Karla Dudley, Hello Love Kit by Mye De Leon, Template from In Good Company Collab Kit by Tiffany Tillman, everything from Pixels & Co)

It's a well known fact by now that I'm not winter's biggest fan. But there is one thing I like; waking up in the morning and seeing everything all fluffy and/or spiky from thick frost. I always run out, sometimes in my pajamas to me honest, with my camera ready to snap away. I jusst think it looks so gorgeous!

(Supplies: Jumbo Sentiments Set 1 by Karla Dudley, Hello Love Kit by Mye De Leon, Paper Stacks Templates by Scotty Girl Design, everything from Pixels & Co)

Karla's super cute Anyday Extras and cool as ice Jumbo Sentiments, as well as Scotty Girl Design's Paper Stacks Templates are new at Pixels & Co today. Check them out!

You get 23 different desings, each in four versions (two sizes in horizontal and vertical). That makes 92 cards! Yikes!

The coolest thing about this is that all cards were designed by yours truly and the rest of the amazing women on the creative team using the beautiful products from AC Digitals. There are three cards designed by me.

You have until Sunday, January 17th to take advantage of this offer, then it will be gone from the face of the earth.

p52 | icy bokeh

Winter still has us in a firm grip. Mostly it's a hassle but then there are beautiful moments where everything is still and quiet and glistening. I was able to catch one of those moments last week. The sun was out, there was beautiful frost on everything in our garden. I grabbed the camera and ran out. Good thing I did because ten minutes later the sun was gone, and it was snowing again. But at least I have a beautiful photo!

I used a Bokeh texture by Liv.e Designs which is coming to her shop on Friday. I will post more about it then!

laying it out | good stuff

I love this shot of me, taken with with a phone, multitasking and combining taking photos of the beautiful Trastevere with eating amazing gelato. I think it shows how our travels usually goes. It should be said that the husband was already minutes ahead of us here. Had it not been for the rest of our posse, I would have been hopelessly behind, LOL.

laying it out | photo centric

I'm coming to you on during the weekend to share a layout that I just finished. I wanted to create a very photo centric layout with some shots from our trip to Rome. I know I've talked your ears off, and probably tired your eyes out, with my posting about Rome and the photo book. Well, it doesn't end there, folks! :)  In any case, Liv.e Desings' new T+Mini Kit helped me with that.

(Supplies: T+Mini Vol. 1 - Filmed by Liv.e Designs at

I like that I was able to combine the large photo of the stunning San Pietro with a whole bunch of photos that show details of the piazza and building. I like how the large photo draws your eyes in to look at the smaller ones.

Have a great weekend everyone!

laying it out | all about me

Welcome to to the post where everything is all about me! Every now and then I get this idea that I should create layouts that are about me rather than things around me. Call me crazy, but I think it's important to do that as well. Heck, I even managed to get my face in one of them!

I am having a rough time keeping up with a consistent running schedule. Mostly I dread going out in really cold weather with snow and ice on the ground but I also keep finding lots of other really important things to do instead of running. I hope the weather will turn soon so that I can get my butt in gear.

(Supplies: All About Love Labels Elements Pack, Winter Breeze Elements, Warm Wuv Soft Hugs Kit, Joy of Childhood Papers, Splatters Vol. 1 Brushes by Liv.e Designs at, Grow With Love Letters February Template by Sara Gleason, Hello Love Papers by Karla Dudley at

Liv's All About Love round labels are beautifully textured and they are new today! Check them out here.

I've done favourites layouts before, but it's been a while since my last one and so I thought it was time for a new one.

(Supplies: Life 365 The Album Cards, Everyday Life Templates, Hello Love Elements, Kraft Essentials Papers all by Karla Dudley, In Stitches Elements by Robyn Meierotto all at

You can pick up Karla's beautiful new Life 365 The Album Cards today right here! There are also gorgeous papers and flair buttons to match. Don't miss them!

Alright, so that was that out of the way! Now we can go back to our regular scheduled programme! :)

p52 | about a boy

After a nice and fun weekend with the nephew, I was surely not going to use any other photo for last week's P52 but one of the boy. Love his freckles and the sparkle in his eyes.

Tuesday, 5 February 2013

the weekend in pictures

So I said yesterday that the boy spent the weekend with us. We had lots of fun and his stay included science experiments and a little craft, games, funny dances, burgers and milkshakes, and whole lot of silliness.

During our science and crafts hours we created carbon dioxie (check out this blog for easy instructions) and blew up a ballon with it.
We also made the classic diet coke fountain with the help of some Mentos. This was very much appreciated by the boy.

The last experiment we did was to write with invisible ink and then heated it to read the messages. I found the super easy instructions here.
Once we knew it worked, the boy wrote a secret love note to someone he cares about (his mama) and then put it in a bottle that he decorated with punched hearts and wrinkle paper. I helped with writing the instructions on a tag.

If you want more ideas on fun things to do with kids, then I found this link on Pinterest.

laying it out | more love

I really liked the photo I took of the husband and I the other week and wanted to do something more with it. I like the crop of this version. I think photos don't always have to feature faces to tell a story. Sure, we posed for this shot, but it still shows that we belong together, and I think it also shows love. Or maybe that is just be knowing about the bond between us? In any case, I wanted to build on that feeling for this layout.

(Supplies: Paper Heart Kit, Storyteller Kit, Pretty Party Kit, Sleigh Ride Kit all by Crate Paper at, Days of December 7 Templates by Katie Pertiet)

Our nephew stayed with us this weekend and it was such a great time. I snapped this photo of him and knew I wanted to use it on a page.

(Supplies: Paper Heart by Crate Paper at, Grow With Love Letters | February Template by Crystal Livesay at, For the Record Documented by Echo Park)

The Paper Heart Kit by Crate Paper is new today at AC It has lots of pretty Valentine's fitting items.

laying it out | pixel goodness

Why not carry on with the lovey dovey theme of the other day?
In this layout I tried to mix in a tiny bit of fun with the sticky sweet pink.

(Supplies: Booboo Be Gone Kit by Liv.e Designs, Fourteen by Crate Paper for

But, let's not go overboard with the sweetness here. Let's get back down to earth and think about one of the realities of life for most of us; work. I took this photo of my hand at work the other week. I love that mouse! It's the best I've ever had and it certainly helps to make every day there not so painful.

I like my job. I like that it keeps me on my toes. Even though I often say I would love to win the lottery so that I could quit it and do more creative work, I still enjoy going there every day trying to be the best I can be. That was my reason for wanting to do this layout.

(Supplies: Texture Magic Digital Tools, Booboo Be Gone Kit, This and That Sticker Pack all by Liv.e Designs, Note 2 Self Kit by Echo Park, Fairytale Kit by Paislee Press and One Little Bird, Blue Paper by JessicaSprague)

You really want to check out the Booboo Be Gone Kit and Texture Magic Digital Tools by Liv.e Designs at They are new today and they are both fabulous!

OK, so I love shoes. Not so strange or uncommon among us women. Last year I made a point of snapping my feet with my Instagram camera. Mostly for fun, but also to have something to look back on. Here is just a part of the instashoe collection.

(Supplies: Everyday Life Templates by Karla Dudley, Dannie Papers and Elements by Robyn Meiretto)

And you know I need to end on a sweet note! I just love this photo of the boy. I just had to use it again.

(Supplies: Hello Love Papers and Elements by Karla Dudley for the Pixels & Co Company stash)

The gorgeous Everyday Life Templates and the Hello Love Papers and Elements by Karla Dudley are new today! So are the Dannie Papers and Elements by Robyn Meiretto. Check them out pronto!

Have a great weekend everyone!
